The Ka-Na-Wa-Ke Canoe and Kayak Club of CNY is a 50 year old paddling organization of roughly 100 members that formally meets 5 or 6 times a year for an outdoor related presentation/program and business meeting. We believe in fostering paddling lore and protecting our natural environment. We share paddling and other related activities in a monthly electronic newsletter that includes our focus - TRIPS. Our trips range from local evening paddles with a stop for ice cream on the way home, to weekend adventure camping trips in the Adirondacks and beyond. We ski, snowshoe, walk, bike, hike or paddle almost every month of the year.
Ka-Na-Wa-Ke scheduled paddling trips are offered by volunteer trip coordinators to members who have the skill level appropriate for that trip. Trips are informal and the coordinator is saying that (s)he is going to paddle a body of water and you are welcome to join the trip if you feel you have the skills and experience to do so safely. You agree to come properly equipped and agree to follow the coordinator's instructions concerning the trip. Coordinators are not guides; they are fellow members sharing their knowledge.
We welcome anyone interested to join us and see what has kept this organization going for 50 years.
